Join us for two exciting new institutes designed to train teachers to begin implementing Common Core Standards!
What: Common Core Institute for teachers
When: February 24, 2012 for K5-5th grade teachers March 23, 2012 for middle and high school teachers
8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Cost: Team of 3--$225 (Individual--$100)
A box lunch will be provided.
During the Institute, your team will experience:

an in-depth overview of the Common Core Standards

specific grade level Common Core classroom strategies modeling a balance of reading, writing, speaking, and listening
-
actual classroom videos of teachers implementing the Common Core Standards in their classrooms

exploration of articles emphasizing the integration of reading, writing, speaking, and listening with Common Core Standards
-
discussion of classroom practice with experts and experienced teachers
-
protocols modeled by Common Core organizers to plan, as a team, for outcomes and possibilities in the classroom
School teams will develop action plans for implementing the strategies in their classrooms/buildings.
This dynamic institute will feature Upstate Writing Project Teacher Consultants who completed a Common Core Research Institute that included NCTE Common Core training during the summer of 2011. The consultants are Writing Specialists who have received advanced degrees focused on literacy/writing.
