Calling All Writers!
The Upstate Writing Project at Clemson University is now taking submissions for our National Day of Writing Contest. All students are invited to participate. If your school or classroom submits the most pieces of writing, you could be the winner. The winning school will receive a Flip video camera. Prizes for the winning teacher have yet to be determined. Please refer to the guidelines for specific instructions for submitting your writing.

Guidelines:
- Writing contest for students in grades K-12.
- Prizes will be given for the school that submits the most entries, the classroom teacher who submits most pieces, and the Upstate Writing Project Teacher Consultant who submits the most pieces.
- Submit original published pieces of any length of everyday writing.
- Everyday writing is any type of writing that your students publish including short stories, essays, poetry, scientific observations, etc.
- Pieces must be dated between August 20 and October 1 of the 2009-2010 school year.
- Entries may be handwritten or typed, and will NOT be returned.
- Each student may submit an unlimited number of completed pieces.
- Deadline for ALL entries to be in our Upstate Writing Project office is October 1, 2009 by 4:00 p.m.
- Student entries should include: Student name, Teacher name, and Date.
- Completed classroom entries should be clipped together by teacher and include a cover sheet with teacher name, school contact information, grade level, and number of submitted pieces.
- Submit all pieces by school in one envelope.
