UWP is an adjudication site for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, sponsored by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers. The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers is a national program formed to support aspiring young artists and writers.

Middle and high school teachers gathered at the University Center March 23, 2012 for an Upstate Writing Project Common Core Institute. We studied the Common Core State Standards in depth and its implications for our classroom practice.

Upstate Writing Project hosted our Common Core Institute for K5-5th grade teachers February 24, 2012. Teachers learned great strategies to take back to their classrooms and planned with colleagues how to implement Common Core Standards in their schools.
